I have looked at effects on a still picture for our music video. slight changes in lighting, contrast, brightness and saturation can have good effects on creating a certain look on a scene.

test footage

last lesson we went to the media studio to do some test footage. the aim was to find out how well the shots we have planned from our storyboard would work, and to test out some special effects that we may want to use in our final cut. we found that there is good lighting in the white room, therefore this is the room that we are going to use for the shots with a piano. this and the fact that it is the only place with a piano that we could find.
we tried some effects, including color de-saturation, to see what we could do to make our video have the feel that we want which is sad and emotional. we also faded away a hand which in the video will be playing the piano. we did this by filming a table with a hand on and then again without the hand, and editing them together.

Our Pitch

This video '4 in the morning' by gwen stefani has got charateristics that we may want to use in our video. Lots of close ups of the artist, showing her emotions and feelings.
We feel in our video we can use close ups because the song is quite personal and about love. We like the setting in this video as we are thinking about using a bed as a prop , which also links into one of the themes of our song, dreaming.

We're going for the look of a pop video, portraying the performer in a innocent way, hopefully making the audience reflect on her situation and feelings: to have loved and lost.
We are going to achieve this by costume and colour of costume and setting using white to emphasize innocence against other colours, like the boyfriend/ex boyfriend to wear black.
We are thinking about having a boy in the video so a short story is created in the video for the audience to relate the song to and follow. This helps bring new things into the video, and so we dont have a 4.00minute video of the same artist/performer doing the same thing.


With this video 'unfaithful' by Rhianna there is more emphisis through the camera shots and angles on the artists body and the story behind the lyrics. The previous video concentrates mostly just on the performer. We feel that we wnat a mixture of both these videos, a large emphisis on the performer and there feelings, but also showing the story of why she is feeling this way. We show this through her body language and facial expressions.

Some shots we have thought about.
-Close ups on the performers face.
-Mid shots showing the bed she is singing on
- High angle shots to show a more vulnerable state
- shots to show surroundings and settings
-we can use fades to show the loss of the boyfriend e.g fading him out of a shot
- through the camera shots we can show the performer in a positive way

We will be Bringing new settings into the video through flashbacks. E.g To bring another performer in, piano player gives the video video more depth , you can see where the music is coming from, as there is a piano playing in the song.

Video about a girl who has loved and lost basing the video around holly performing and a story taking place, being told by the lyrics. We are deciding how the girl has lost and like the idea that her guy/boyfriend has died and there is a twist at the end revealing this. As the song is quite slow and is called 'dreaming' we are thinking about using a bed as a prop, doing some of the performance on/aropund the bed, early morning. Emphisis on the theme of dreaming. Also using a piano as a prop is an idea, with the boyfriend playing, but the performer is just dreaming it.

We have chosen to do the song by bassboosa, dreaming because, we feel it has most potential in making it a successful music video. We find the mood and the lyrics most appealing.
